Using Emergency Mode

FindHosi's Emergency Mode is a specialized feature designed to quickly help you find the nearest healthcare facilities with emergency services. This guide explains how to use Emergency Mode effectively.

When to Use Emergency Mode

Emergency Mode is designed for situations such as:

  • Non-life-threatening emergencies where you need to find an emergency room quickly
  • Urgent medical situations that require prompt attention but are not immediately life-threatening
  • Planning ahead to know where emergency facilities are located in your area

When NOT to Use Emergency Mode

Do not rely solely on FindHosi in these situations:

  • Life-threatening emergencies - Call emergency services (999 or 112) immediately
  • Severe injuries requiring immediate professional medical attention
  • Symptoms of heart attack or stroke - Call emergency services immediately

Features of Emergency Mode

When Emergency Mode is active, FindHosi provides several specialized features:

  • Emergency Banner - A prominent red banner appears at the top of the screen, indicating that Emergency Mode is active
  • Filtered Results - Only facilities with emergency services are displayed
  • Prioritized Sorting - Results are automatically sorted by distance, showing the closest emergency facilities first
  • Emergency Indicators - Facilities with emergency services are highlighted with special markers on the map
  • Wait Time Estimates - When available, approximate wait times are displayed for emergency departments

Understanding Emergency Facility Information

When viewing an emergency facility in Emergency Mode, pay attention to these important pieces of information:

  • Distance - How far the facility is from your current location
  • Estimated Wait Time - The approximate time you might wait to be seen (if available)
  • Open Status - Whether the emergency department is currently open (most are 24/7)
  • Contact Information - Phone numbers to call ahead if needed
  • Directions - Quick access to navigation directions to the facility

Getting Directions to Emergency Facilities

Once you've identified an appropriate emergency facility, you can quickly get directions:

  1. Select the facility from either the map or list view
  2. In the facility details, click the "Get Directions" button at the bottom of the screen
  3. Your default maps application will open with directions to the facility already set up
  4. Follow the turn-by-turn directions to reach the emergency facility

Calling Emergency Facilities

In some situations, you may want to call the emergency facility before arriving:

  1. Select the facility from either the map or list view
  2. In the facility details, click the "Call" button at the bottom of the screen
  3. Your phone will initiate a call to the facility's main phone number

Note: Calling ahead may be helpful in non-life-threatening situations, but should not delay seeking immediate care for serious emergencies.

Exiting Emergency Mode

To exit Emergency Mode and return to normal searching:

  1. Click the X button on the Emergency Banner at the top of the screen
  2. The app will return to normal search mode, showing all healthcare facilities
  3. Any filters you had applied before entering Emergency Mode will be restored
