Filtering Search Results
FindHosi offers powerful filtering options to help you narrow down healthcare facilities based on your specific needs. This guide explains how to use the filtering features effectively.
Accessing Filters
To access the filtering options in FindHosi:
- On the main search screen, locate the filter icon (funnel shape) next to the search bar
- Click the filter icon to expand the filter panel
- The filter panel will display all available filtering options
Available Filters
FindHosi provides several types of filters to help you find the right healthcare facility:
Distance Filter
- The distance slider allows you to set the maximum distance from your location
- You can adjust the radius from 1km to 50km
- As you adjust the slider, the map and results update in real-time
- The current radius value is displayed next to the slider
Facility Type Filter
- The facility type dropdown lets you filter by ownership type
- Options include "All Types," "Public," and "Private"
- Public facilities are government-owned or operated healthcare institutions
- Private facilities are privately owned and operated healthcare institutions
Specialty Filter
- The specialty dropdown allows you to filter by medical specialty
- Options include "All Specialties" and a list of available specialties like Cardiology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, etc.
- The list of specialties is dynamically generated based on the facilities in your area
- Selecting a specialty will show only facilities that offer that specific medical service
Using Multiple Filters
You can combine multiple filters to narrow down your search results:
- Set the distance to define your search area
- Select a facility type (Public or Private) if you have a preference
- Choose a specialty that matches your healthcare needs
- The results will update to show only facilities that meet all your criteria
Note: Using too many restrictive filters might result in few or no matches. If you don't see any results, try relaxing some of your filter criteria.
Combining Filters with Search
For even more precise results, you can combine filters with the search function:
- Apply your desired filters using the filter panel
- Enter keywords in the search bar (e.g., hospital name, specific service, or address)
- The results will show facilities that match both your filters and search terms
This combination is powerful for finding very specific healthcare services, such as "private cardiology clinic" or "public hospital with pediatric services."
Clearing Filters
If you want to reset your filters and see all available facilities:
- For individual filters, select "All Types" for facility type or "All Specialties" for specialty
- To reset the distance, move the slider back to your preferred radius
- If no results are found, a "Clear Filters" button will appear that resets all filters when clicked
Filter Persistence
Understanding how filters persist in FindHosi:
- Your filter settings remain active until you change them
- Filters persist between Map View and List View - changing views does not reset your filters
- Filters are temporarily reset when entering Emergency Mode
- Your filter preferences are saved for your current session but may reset when you close and reopen the app
Filter-Specific Tips
Distance Filter Tips
- Start with a smaller radius (5-10km) in urban areas where many facilities may be available
- Use a larger radius (20-50km) in rural areas where healthcare facilities might be more spread out
- If you're planning ahead for a trip, you can manually set your location to your destination and then apply distance filters
Facility Type Filter Tips
- Public facilities may be more affordable but might have longer wait times
- Private facilities might offer more specialized services or amenities but could be more expensive
- Consider your insurance coverage when choosing between public and private facilities
Specialty Filter Tips
- Be specific when you know exactly what specialty you need
- For general health concerns, consider "General Medicine" or "Family Medicine" specialties
- For urgent but non-emergency situations, look for facilities with "Urgent Care" specialties
- Some specialties may be listed under different names (e.g., "Children's Health" instead of "Pediatrics")
