Troubleshooting Location Issues
FindHosi relies on your device's location services to find healthcare facilities near you. If you're experiencing issues with location detection, this guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve common problems.
Common Location Issues
Here are some common location-related issues you might encounter when using FindHosi:
- "Unable to access your location" message
- Inaccurate location shown on the map
- Location not updating when you move
- Approximate location being used instead of precise location
- Default location being used (usually New York City)

- Tap Location Services
- Make sure Location Services is turned on
- Scroll down and find your browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)
- Tap on it and select While Using the App or Ask Next Time Or When I Share
- Return to the browser and refresh the page
Android
- Open Settings on your device
- Tap Location (or Privacy then Location)
- Make sure Location is turned on
- Go back to Settings and tap Apps (or Applications)
- Find your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and tap on it
- Tap Permissions
- Tap Location and select Allow only while using the app
- Return to the browser and refresh the page
Improving Location Accuracy
If FindHosi is showing an inaccurate location, try these steps to improve accuracy:
- Enable high-accuracy mode in your device's location settings
- Connect to Wi-Fi if possible, as it helps with location accuracy
- Move to an area with better GPS reception (away from tall buildings or indoor locations)
- Update your browser to the latest version
- Clear your browser cache and cookies
- Use the refresh location button in FindHosi (next to your coordinates)
Manually Refreshing Your Location
FindHosi provides a way to manually refresh your location:
- Look for the location indicator at the top of the screen (shows your coordinates)
- Click the refresh icon next to your coordinates
- The app will attempt to get a fresh, accurate location reading
- If prompted, allow location access again
Understanding Location Fallbacks
FindHosi uses a series of fallback methods if precise location is unavailable:
- Precise GPS location - The most accurate method (within a few meters)
- Wi-Fi-based location - Used if GPS is unavailable (accuracy within 100-500 meters)
- IP-based location - Used if both GPS and Wi-Fi location fail (accuracy at city level)
- Default location - Used as a last resort if all other methods fail
When using a fallback method, FindHosi will display a warning message indicating that an approximate location is being used.
Troubleshooting Specific Issues
Location Not Updating When You Move
If your location doesn't update as you move:
- Make sure you've granted continuous location access, not just one-time access
- Check if your device has battery-saving mode enabled, which might limit location updates
- Try refreshing the page or using the refresh location button
- Ensure you're moving a significant distance (at least 100 meters) for the change to register
Default Location Being Used
If FindHosi is showing a default location (usually New York City):
- This means all location methods have failed
- Check your internet connection
- Ensure location services are enabled at both the device and browser level
- Try using a different browser or device
- Disable VPN services if you're using them, as they can interfere with location detection
Privacy Considerations
It's important to understand how FindHosi uses your location data:
- Your location is used only to find nearby healthcare facilities
- Location data is processed locally on your device
- Your location is not stored on our servers
- You can revoke location permissions at any time through your browser settings
- For more information, please refer to our Privacy Policy
