Map Loading Issues
The map is a central feature of FindHosi, allowing you to visualize healthcare facilities near you. If you're experiencing issues with the map loading or functioning correctly, this guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve common problems.
Common Map Issues
Here are some common issues you might encounter with the map in FindHosi:
- Map not loading or showing a blank screen
- Map tiles loading slowly or incompletely
- Facility markers not appearing on the map
- Map controls not responding (zoom, pan, etc.)
- Map overlapping with other elements or hospital details
- Map performance issues (lag, freezing)
Internet Connection Issues
The most common cause of map loading problems is internet connectivity issues:
- Check your internet connection - The map requires a stable internet connection to load map tiles and data
- Try switching from mobile data to Wi-Fi (or vice versa) if available
- Test your connection speed using a service like speedtest.net - maps may load slowly on connections below 1 Mbps
- Check if other websites are loading to determine if the issue is specific to FindHosi
Browser-Related Issues
Your browser settings and configuration can affect map performance:
Clear Browser Cache and Cookies
- Open your browser settings
- Find the option to clear browsing data/history
- Select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and site data"
- Clear the data and then refresh FindHosi
Update Your Browser
Outdated browsers may have compatibility issues with modern mapping technologies:
- Chrome: Click the three dots → Help → About Google Chrome
- Firefox: Click the menu button → Help → About Firefox
- Safari: Open the App Store and check for updates
- Edge: Click the three dots → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge
Disable Browser Extensions
Some browser extensions can interfere with map functionality:
- Temporarily disable all browser extensions/add-ons
- Refresh FindHosi and check if the map loads correctly
- If it works, re-enable extensions one by one to identify the problematic one
Device-Related Issues
Your device's capabilities and settings can affect map performance:
Check Device Resources
- Close other apps and browser tabs to free up memory and processing power
- Restart your device if it's been running for a long time
- Check available storage space - low storage can affect browser performance
Hardware Acceleration
Modern browsers use hardware acceleration to improve performance:
- Chrome: Settings → Advanced → System → Use hardware acceleration when available
- Firefox: Settings → Performance → Use recommended performance settings
- Edge: Settings → System and performance → Use hardware acceleration when available
Map Overlapping Issues
If the map is overlapping with hospital details or other elements:
- Try switching to List View temporarily by clicking the "List View" tab
- Close any open hospital details by clicking the X or Close button
- Refresh the page to reset the layout
- Try a different device or browser if the issue persists
- Adjust your browser's zoom level (Ctrl/Cmd + or - keys) to see if it resolves the layout issue
Facility Markers Not Appearing
If you don't see any facility markers on the map:
- Check if you have any active filters that might be limiting the results
- Increase the search radius using the distance slider in the filters
- Verify your location is correct - incorrect location data will show facilities in the wrong area
- Try zooming out to see if markers are visible at a different zoom level
- Refresh the page to reload all map data
Map Performance Issues
If the map is slow, laggy, or freezing:
- Reduce the search radius to display fewer facilities
- Switch to List View if the map is consistently problematic
- Use filters to reduce the number of markers displayed
- Close other applications running on your device
- Try a different browser or device if possible
Refreshing the Map
If you're experiencing persistent map issues, try these refresh methods:
- Switch between Map View and List View tabs to force the map to reload
- Refresh the browser page (F5 or browser refresh button)
- Hard refresh the page (Ctrl+F5 on Windows/Linux or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac)
- Clear browser cache and then refresh
- Close and reopen the browser
